About KSJ
Kym spent eighteen years managing the marketing, advertising, and sales administration for her family's machine tool distributorship. In 2003, due to the excessive loss of manufacturing jobs in Michigan, it was decided to close down the company and the family went their separate ways. She decided then to take her extensive skills and experience and put them to work for small companies that could not afford to hire full time people but needed more consistency than temporary help. Some of her day to day duties over the past eighteen years included:
- Designing all advertising including direct mail, trade journals, promotion pieces for trade shows and open houses and promotional items, training manuals, all office forms, business cards, and presentation folders (see Portfolio); supervised the production of these pieces with local printing companies
- Managing the placement of all advertising in the appropriate trade journals; writing and submission of press releases
- Designing and maintaining the company website; making sure search engine submissions were done on a regular basis to keep the company’s website at the top of the search
- Organizing all trade shows and open houses (this job involved working with budgets and negotiating various trade unions and catering companies); deadlines were met to take advantage of the reduced rates
- Maintaining a prospect database of approximately 5500 company names (with over 8,000 contact names) in Michigan using a sales management software
- Preparing customer proposals for sales staff and managing all of their correspondence; typing speed is approximately 60 WPM
- Producing yearly marketing plans
- Processing all direct mail according to USPS standard mail procedures and keeping current on those procedures through the local PCCC to keep mailing expenses to a minimum
- General office management (6+ employees)
- Other duties: maintaining computer network (Novell 4.11), software purchase and installation, software training for employees, Accounts Payable; Accounts Receivable; Payroll
